Our LED aluminum channel comes in a 16 × 8 mm surface profile, a recessed LED channel for drywall with a 23 mm plaster flange, and a 45° corner profile. The same snap-in LED profile diffuser fits all three. Everything is quoted per 2 m length in USD, with end caps and clips listed on the sheet.

P16 surface channel, for the underside of anything.

16 mm wide, 8 mm deep, extruded aluminium. It screws straight to the underside of a shelf or a wall cabinet, or presses into the steel mounting clips if you want to be able to pull it later. This is the channel in our under cabinet LED strip kit, and it is the one to choose whenever the channel itself will be hidden by a cabinet lip or a shelf edge.

At 8 mm deep, COB strip reads as a clean line under the opal cover. SMD strip in the P16 will still show faint banding. If you want the SMD2835 output, go to the P23 or accept the banding.

The P23 channel has a 23 mm plaster flange. Tape it, mud it, sand it, and the light line looks cut into the ceiling. The flange is perforated so the joint compound keys through it, the same way it grips a corner bead. After paint, all you see is a slot of light.

It goes in before the finisher does. Route a slot in the board, screw the flange to the framing or the board face, then the drywall crew treats it like any other joint. We see two mistakes: installing it after the ceiling is painted, which means patching a finished ceiling, and forgetting to leave a way to reach the feed end. Plan an access point near the driver before the board goes up.

P45 corner channel, aimed into the room.

A strip mounted flat on a wardrobe ceiling lights the tops of the hangers and leaves the shirts in shadow. Tip it 45° into the corner where side and top meet and the light falls across the whole depth of the cabinet. The P45 is shaped for that corner, so it sits tight against both faces with no gap to catch dust.

It is also the channel in the stair tread kit, fixed under each tread nose to wash the riser below. Glass-front display cabinets are the third place we send it.

One opal LED profile diffuser for all three channels.

The photo says most of it. A clear cover shows every LED as a point. The opal cover spreads each one into its neighbours until the line reads as solid. It costs a little output, which is the trade you make for a line that looks designed.

It snaps into the P16, P23 and P45, so one part number covers any mix of channel on a job. It comes in 2 m lengths to match the channel, and cuts with the same saw. We do not stock clear covers. Nobody who has seen the two side by side has asked for one.

Module 02 / Fitting

End caps, clips, and cutting to length.

Every channel run needs two end caps: a solid one for the far end and one with a cable hole for the feed end. The load sheet counts them per run, along with mounting clips at two per metre for the P16. People forget caps more than anything else, and a run without them shows a bright raw edge.

Cutting aluminium channel is a fine-tooth hacksaw or a mitre saw with a non-ferrous blade. Deburr the cut or it will scratch the diffuser going in. If you would rather not cut, ask for cut-to-length on the inquiry and give the lengths in millimetres; cabinet shops ordering repeat lists do this as standard, see installers.

Cut the channel and the diffuser to the same length.
Stick the strip to the channel floor, feed end at the cable-hole cap.
Snap the diffuser in from one end, pressing along its length.
Fit both end caps, then fix the channel.

Who should skip channel

Almost nobody. The one case is strip inside a deep cove where nobody can see it and it sits on a metal surface. Even then, the channel pulls heat out of the strip. On wood or drywall, always channel.
