24 V and 48 V only. Drivers at 80 %.

Category 01 / LED strip / 3 parts

24V LED strip lights that stay even to the far end, and a 48 V strip for runs up to 20 m.

Three strips, nothing at 12 V. A COB LED strip 24V for dot-free lines under cabinets, an SMD2835 strip at 14.4 W/m for coves that need output, and a 48V LED strip for long runs on a single feed. Strip is quoted per reel in USD, and every quote comes with the driver and feed worked out.

Module 01 / Feed limits

How far each strip goes on one feed.

The single-feed length is where the far end stays within what the eye reads as the same brightness. Past it, you feed from both ends or add a second feed partway along. The load sheet marks where.

Cut only on the printed line between copper pads. A cut 3 mm off the mark kills the last segment, and we cannot take back a reel that has been cut.

ZV-S24C COB strip lit as an even line with no dots

ZV-S24C / Category 01

COB LED strip 24V, the line with no dots.

Chip-on-board strip puts the LEDs under one continuous strip of phosphor, so the light reads as a line instead of a row of beads. That matters under a cabinet over a gloss or honed stone counter, where SMD dots reflect as a dotted stripe. At 10 W/m it lights a 600 mm deep counter well without glare. It is 8 mm wide, fits all three of our channels and works in the P16 with only 8 mm of depth.

This is the strip we default to. If you are not sure which of the three to pick and the run is under 10 m, it is this one. It cuts every 50 mm, which lets you stop close to an end panel rather than leaving a 100 mm dark gap.

SMD2835 / 120 LED/m / cut on the line between pads

ZV-S24D / Category 01

SMD2835 strip at 14.4 W/m, for when a cove has to throw light.

120 LEDs per metre on a flexible circuit, 14.4 W/m. It is the brightest strip we carry and the one to use in a ceiling cove, a deep toe-kick, or anywhere the light has to bounce off a surface a metre away. Put it in open view without a diffuser and you will see every chip. In a P23 with the opal cover, where the strip sits 10 mm or more below it, the dots disappear. The shallower P16 still shows faint banding.

Mind the watts. A 5 m reel is 72 W, which already fills a ZV-D100 to 90 % of what we allow. Two reels will not go on one driver at all: 10 m at 14.4 W/m is 144 W, and the 150 W unit is only allowed 120 W. That run gets two ZV-D100s, one per reel. This is the kind of thing the load sheet catches before you buy.

ZV-S48L 48 V strip lit evenly along a long straight run
48 V / fed from the near end / same brightness at the far end

ZV-S48L / Category 01

48V LED strip for a long run on one feed.

Quoted per 20 m reel, USD

Double the voltage and you halve the current for the same watts. Voltage loss along the copper of the strip goes with current, so a 48 V strip at 10 W/m runs 20 m from one end before the far end starts to warm and dim. That is a corridor, a retail shelf run, a long cove around a living room, with one feed and no mid-run cable to hide.

It is not for short jobs. A 20 m reel on a 3 m cabinet is money spent on voltage you do not need, and our two drivers are 24 V, so the 48 V strip is quoted with its own matched supply on the load sheet. Under 10 m, use the COB.

Module 02 / The voltage question

We do not sell 12 V strip.

Past five metres it goes amber at the far end, and nobody wants a kitchen that fades. A 12 V strip at 10 W/m draws twice the current of the same strip at 24 V. Loss in the strip's copper rises with current, so the far end of an 8 m run on 12 V is visibly dimmer and warmer in colour than the near end. People see it the first evening.

At 24 V the same 8 m run is well within one feed. At 48 V, 20 m is. Those are the only two voltages we stock, and there is no case we have met where 12 V was the better answer for a new installation.

Worked example: 8 m cove

8 m of ZV-S24C at 10 W/m is 80 W. That needs 100 W of driver at our 80 % rule, so a ZV-D100 sits exactly at its limit. Current is 80 ÷ 24 = 3.3 A. On a 3 m feed of 18 AWG, drop is 2 × 3 × 3.3 × 0.02095 = 0.42 V, or 1.7 %. Pass. Put your own lengths into the LED strip voltage drop calculator.

Module 03 / Strip questions

Asked at the counter most weeks.

Can I join two reels end to end?

Yes, with a ZV-C10 clip, as long as the total stays inside the single-feed length. Two 5 m reels of COB is 10 m, right at the limit. Past that, feed the far end separately.

What colour temperature?

Tell us on the inquiry. For kitchens most people end up at 3000 K. If you cannot decide, the tunable-white set lets you choose after it is installed.

Is the adhesive enough on its own?

Not on bare wood or painted surfaces, and not for long. Put strip in aluminium channel. The channel holds it and pulls heat out of it, which is what keeps the LEDs at full output for years.

Who is this strip not for?

Anyone after colour-changing RGB effects, or anyone wanting to run strip straight off a 12 V system in a van or boat. We do not stock either.
