Statement / accessibility

Every part code, spec row and calculator figure on this site can be read without a mouse or a screen.

That is the target we build to: WCAG 2.2 level AA across the catalog, the category pages and the LED strip voltage drop calculator. Below is what works today and what still falls short. If something here gets in your way, the last clause is the fastest route to a parts list.

Clause 01What we build to

The site is plain HTML, CSS and a small amount of vanilla JavaScript. No framework renders the text, so a screen reader gets the same document a sighted visitor gets. Headings run in order, one h1 per page, and every spec table has a caption and header cells so a row like "ZV-D100, 100 W, 80 W working load" reads as a row and not as loose numbers.

Text is set at a minimum of 16 px for body copy and scales with the browser. Primary type is #F0ECF6 on #0D0913, which clears 15:1. Secondary grey text sits above 7:1. The acid green accent is used on dark ground only, never as text on white.

Clause 02Keyboard and touch

Tab reaches every link, button and field in a visible order. The first stop on every page is a "Skip to content" link. Focus is drawn as a 2 px violet outline, and it is never removed without a replacement.

The Catalog mega panel opens on click, Enter or tap. Hover only adds to that, it is never the only way in. On phones the panel becomes a list inside the menu drawer. Every control is at least 44 px tall, including the footer legal links and the chips on the catalog page filter.

Clause 03Motion

The home page has a pinned section, the load sheet, where four steps cross-fade as you scroll. Set "reduce motion" in your operating system and it releases into four ordinary stacked blocks with no pinning and no fades. The thin green progress bar at the top of the window is decorative and hidden from assistive technology.

Nothing on the site autoplays or flashes. There is no video.

Clause 04The calculator

The run and driver calculator takes strip type, run length, number of runs, wire gauge and feed distance. Each input has a visible label and a typed number field beside any slider, so you never have to drag a thumb to reach 7.2 m. Results update in a live region, which means a screen reader announces the new driver size and voltage drop when an input changes.

The warning for a feed drop above 3 % is written as a sentence, not signalled by colour alone. The formula is printed underneath in plain text: watts, then watts divided by 0.8, then 2 × length × current × resistance per metre. You can do the arithmetic by hand from that and get the same answer.

Clause 05Photographs

Every product photograph carries alt text that says what the frame shows and which part it is, for example "ZV-P23 plaster-in channel set into a drywall ceiling before paint". Decorative tiles in the mega panel are CSS backgrounds with the category named in text next to them, so nothing is lost if images do not load.

No figure lives only in a photograph. Watts per metre, cut intervals, channel dimensions and driver ratings are all written as text in spec tables, so a picture of a lit strip is there to show the line, not to carry a number you need.

Clause 06Known limits

We would rather list these than pretend they are not there.

  • The support chat polls for new replies every five seconds while it is open. New messages are announced, but a long exchange can be noisy on some screen readers. Email gets the same answer.
  • Section drawings on the channel and diffuser page are given as dimension tables. If you need a drawing described in more detail than the table carries, ask and we will write it out.
  • The giant index numerals are decoration. They are hidden from assistive technology, and the section headings carry the numbering in text.
  • Fonts load from Google Fonts. If that request is blocked, the site falls back to system type and stays readable, but spacing in some tables gets wider.

Clause 07If something blocks you

Call +1 (204) 555-4462 or write to [email protected]. Tell us the page and what went wrong. If you were trying to order, give us the run lengths in metres and where the power comes in, and we will build the load sheet from that over the phone or by email. You do not need to use the web form at all.
